Have you set a New Years Revolution for 2014? Yes, you read it right: Revolution with a “V”. If you want better results and “changes” in the coming year, start building better blogging and social media habits and set some solid promises for yourself. Vive la revolución!
Resolutions (with an “S”) don’t seem to work. It makes better sense when you look up the definition of RESOLUTION. It says:
resolution /rɛzəˈluːʃ(ə)n/: a firm decision to do or not to do something
Ah-hah! It has left us with “an out”: NOT TO DO. Clearly this could be why most people DO NOT keep their New Years Resolutions. So, let’s scrap the old useless resolution and aim for something much better: A NEW YEARS REVOLUTION!
Revolution: To Overthrow a Social Order in Favour of a New System
Traditionally, Revolution means to overthrow a government. We don’t want to overthrow any governments (I don’t anyway). Che Guevara, Mao Zedong, Vladimir Lenin, & George Washington are just a few revolutionary names that come to mind.
Revolution can also mean “to overthrow a social order in favour of a new system”.
Egypt overthrew their government with the aid of Social Proof (Facebook). It could easily be argued that the Egyptian Revolution of 2011 would have failed without Social Media.
Is it Time for You to Overthrow your Old Social Order?
If your current Social Order isn’t getting you the results you truly know you deserve, and you have worked with this “regime” for a long time (perhaps years), then isn’t it time you overthrow your Social Order? Is it time to have a New Years Revolution of your blogging and social media habits?
What is Needed for Improvement?
You probably only need a revolution of the mind and the habits, rather than a revolution of your systems. If things aren’t working (yet), then it could be time to tweak your outlook on the things you do and your approach.
You are probably doing it RIGHT; you might just not doing it ENOUGH.
If a Democratically elected Government doesn’t get the desired results of it’s electorate, it normally gets sacked by the voters. If a Dictator becomes too unpopular, he gets overthrown by the people with a revolution. It is an attitude change for the system in order to make change.
This Attitude Change of the new Government causes MORE to be done with a few tweaks to the old system. The refreshed attitude and new outlook fuels progress.
(History has proven time and again that the new government becomes an incarnation of the old government over time, and often much worse than the one it replaced. That is a different story for a different blog)
If YOU are not getting the results you want, YOU need a Revolution of the mind: an attitude change.
A New Social Order: Viva la revolución
An attitude change is easy; you just have to WANT to do it.
- Do you want the change that comes with better results and more money for your improved content marketing efforts?
- Do you want the benefits that come with success?
- Do you want your loved ones to share the sweet fruits of the spoils that come from a passionate effort and fulfillment of a great job done?
If the answer is YES to any of the above questions, then you have to accept the hard work that goes with it.
Your New Years Revolution: The Attitude Change
Once you accept that work is required to get the result of sweet success, you have made the switch: The Attitude Change.
When that switch takes place, you will feel it. It is a realization, like you have found something that was missing for years; a long lost friend called “Success”. He left left with his mate “Reward” around the same time as his friend “Effort” walked out the door.
But they will all come running back in a blink of an eyelid when they know “Attitude Change” is back.
It’s really not rocket science to work out that money is a reward for success, that success is a result of committed effort (not always hard work), and that you need to put in the yards to get those results.
Moving Forward with a Content Marketing Plan
Set a realistic, yet ambitious content marketing plan for yourself in the coming year. Start it today.
Here are some questions to ask yourself for your New Years Revolution:
- What is your topic? Do you know it yet? Perhaps you need a deadline to work out the topic by. Set a date and start pondering on your blogging topic.
- How often will you post an article on your blog? Weekly? Is that enough? Was “weekly” part of the reason last year didn’t provide enough rewards?
- Are you active on social media? How many social sites do you use? To few? To many? Are you getting enough social proof now? How can you improve it?
- Can you afford to “not” do content marketing? Is it worth the pain of watching others pass you by in both blogging and social media? Do you have a business and are not Social Media Ready?
I could throw a lot more at you for your New Years Revolution, but I won’t. I think you get the picture. Don’t feel that you have to change the world in this process. You only need to have a small “attitude change” towards your Social Order to implement the New Years Revolution.
Vive la revolución
It’s time for change. It’s time for improvement. Don’t look for what is wrong with the system; look for how you can improve upon it. Improvement is made with your outlook and perception. Outlook and perception is improved with your Attitude.
Set yourself a solid New Years Revolution right now. Overthrow your social order: Vive la revolución
